As our careful readers have noticed, last issue held a record number of typos and grammatical errors. We had no idea of the number of school teachers who read the Edge. The reason, if not an excuse, is that the humble Ms. Sally was away in the high mountains, while poor Uncle Mike and TABLE- o f CONTENT-!» IX. 2 EDITORIAL 3 ENVIRONMENTAL NEWS PKOF. HObllkC your beloved Rev. had to put the paper out with our limited abilities of concentration. We are delighted to say, she is back and your expectations of superior proofreading will be once again met. Thanks to all who wrote, and pointed out our errors. Ms. Sally is having them framed and hung by the bathroom mirror. Music is too important to be left to musicians. . . as politics is too important to be left to politicians, of religion is too important to be left to the church. . What does that mean? Well, to us it means that we should never trust the experts, the folks that know how it is done. We are reminded of when Grant Wood came in the bookstore and asked it we had a book on paper making. We didn't, but asked if he understood the basic principals of paper making. He did. We asked why he didn't just try various ways and various materials and just do it. Several weeks later he showed us paper like we had never seen. From mosses, from seaweed, with dragonfly wings, beautiful pieces of paper and no two pieces the same. Paper making is obviously too important to be left to Weyerhauser. Your beloved Rev. is not what you can really call a musician according to the experts. There is no music store we know of that sells washboards. Each washboardist must first build the instrument, then learn to play "music" on it. As has been stated before, it is the singer, not the song; it is also the player, not the instrument that matters. So, this brings us to the bottom line. . . sometimes you just love having your own newspaper. . . Monday, Nov. 27th at Bill's Tavern, Back by popular demand: . . . . . Smokin' Billy and the Inhalers. Yes. Steve Bradley and Turtle will once again join your beloved Rev. in an attempt to keep live music alive on this storm battered edge of the world. Two electric guitars and a washboard, the power trio of the nineties. Cream, eat your heart out. Captain Outrageous and Hanoi Jane's team, the Male Native Americans from Atlanta, beat the Native American Tribe from Cleveland. This last month has been, if not a payback for last year, a reminder of what the "game" is all about. "The game does not build character, it reveals it." Watching the "Battle in Seattle” and the Seattle "Sailors?" refuse to lose for so many nights when it was all on the line, until the sheer weight of the game came down, was to remember why we are fans. Though we had no favorites in the series, we believe that Atlanta deserved it and won it, fair and square. But they should perhaps send a round to the gentlemen in Latte land, who will, if the magic works, be playing the Ursa Minors from Chicago next year. We can bearly wait Sorry.
